Its aim is to assess and validate the relevance of a new energy channel made up of a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas.</p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It consists of two demonstration projects in the Dunkirk area:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>A transport demonstrator: the Hythane® fuel project on an industrial scale. A CNG bus station will be adapted to the hydrogen-natural gas mix, with 6% hydrogen and then up to 20%.</li>\n<li class=\"p1\">a housing demonstrator: a project to inject hydrogen into a natural gas distribution network. A new neighborhood of around 100 homes in Cappelle-la-Grande will be supplied with a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas, in variable proportions of less than 20% by volume.</li>\n</ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">These two pilots will run for 5 years. They will enable us to assess the technical, economic and environmental relevance of this new energy source.</p>\n<p><strong>The Jupiter 1000 project</strong> is an innovative industrial Power-to-Gas demonstrator. Based on a platform designed for the energy transition, the facility aims to transform renewable electricity into gas for storage.  Surplus electricity will be converted into hydrogen by two electrolyzers, as well as into synthetic methane by means of a methanation reactor and a structure for capturing CO2 from nearby industrial fumes.</p>\n<p class=\"font_7\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">​</span>GRTgaz and its partners are currently developing the project in Fos-sur-Mer (Bouches-du-Rhône) on the Innovex platform dedicated to hosting demonstrators in connection with the Energy Transition. The project is located at the intersection of the gas and electricity grids and close to an industrial CO2 source.</p>\n<div id=\"comp-j5jdajth\" class=\"txtNew\">\n<p class=\"font_7\">With the Jupiter 1000 project, GRTgaz and its partners aim to implement on an industrial scale an innovative 1 MWe hydrogen production plant, comprising two electrolyzers based on two different technologies: PEM (membrane) and Alkaline. The demonstrator will also include a CO2 capture unit on the chimneys of a nearby industrial plant, and a methanation unit to convert the hydrogen produced and the recycled CO2 into synthetic methane.</p>\n<p class=\"font_7\">This carbon-neutral gas will then be injected into the gas transmission network. An injection/mixing station will ensure the conformity of the syngas.  The electricity consumed is generated directly by the wind turbines located nearby at the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille.</p>\n<p>Start-up is scheduled for 2018, with first results in 2019.</p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"></div>\n</div>\n<p>Although the market does not yet exist, industry professionals are calling for government support to enable the industry to really get off the ground, and for measures to encourage the development of this technology.</p>\n<p>SOCLEMA is also very interested in this sector, and is already involved in some of these Power-To-Gas projects.</p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some European countries, such as Germany, are already heavily involved in developing the sector.
