This process consists in converting and storing electricity in the form of gas. In concrete terms, <strong>Power-to-Gas uses non-consumed renewable electricity to produce hydrogen by electrolysis of water</strong>. The hydrogen can then be combined with carbon dioxide (CO2) in a methanation process to obtain synthetic methane, with properties identical to those of natural gas. The hydrogen or synthetic methane thus produced can then be injected into the gas transmission network.</p>\n<p><strong>Jupiter 1000</strong> is also the first project in France to recover CO2 from industrial flue gas, by integrating a CO2 capture unit on the chimneys of a local manufacturer, Asco Industries.
