\nCompetitors boast that their products are completely interchangeable with GENIEFILTERS® from A+ Corporation®, with the same performance and efficiency. Yet most of the time, these companies only offer pale copies.
\nThe first GENIE separators were invented in 1989.
\nAt the time, analyzers were protected from liquids by coalescing filters. These filters are very effective at removing large quantities of liquids, but not so effective at removing very fine aerosols. Membrane separators, on the other hand, remove 100% of liquids from the gas stream, so they were quickly adopted as low-cost insurance for analyzer protection. Even after 30 years, tens of thousands of GENIE 101 separators are still installed in the field to remove liquids and protect analyzers.
\nThe efficiency of the GENIE membrane (Membrane Technology) remains unequalled. Its characteristics (membrane type 6) mean that it eliminates all types of liquids, is totally inert and has no influence on the composition of the gas passing through it.
\nTests carried out by A+ Corporation on competing membranes have shown that liquid hydrocarbons will pass through their membrane at slightly elevated pressure differentials.
\nThe design of GENIE separators is also different from that of competitors. If we consider the GENIE 120 model (which replaces the GENIE 101), its body has been designed with 2 levels of inertial separation to protect the membrane from contaminants even before the gas comes into contact with the membrane. This extends the life of the membrane. To create the first level of inertial separation, the passage from the inlet to the bypass is narrowed to increase fluid velocity, thereby increasing the inertial difference between gas and contaminants. For the second level of inertial separation, the passageway leading the gas into the membrane cavity is perpendicular to the flow path of the gas stream. Liquids and particles are discharged through the bypass along with the excess gas.
\nThe GENIE 123 has been designed with 3 levels of inertial separation.
\nA+ products are designed with the express purpose of correctly sampling a fluid that represents a whole. This is an important point, as many components used in sampling are adaptations of other products or technologies used in completely different sampling applications. These adaptations can lead to erroneous results. Last but not least, GENIE separators offer reduced purge times and minimized, if not eliminated, dead volume.
