Hydrogen applications are booming, but require specific products because of the fluid's particular characteristics.

Because of their extremely small size, H2 atoms attach themselves between material grains, where they react with impurities and inclusions to degrade the physical and mechanical properties of materials.

\n\n\n\n

In particular, they degrade the ductility of metals, making them more brittle and fragile.

The embrittlement of materials occurs slowly and without apparent sign until failure. These problems can lead to system failure. It is essential to remedy these problems, and to manufacture fluid systems using high-grade stainless steel and a specific formulation to resist embrittlement phenomena.

\n\n\n\n

To avoid these phenomena,316 stainless steel with a high nickel and chromium content is preferred .

\n\n\n\n

ASTM requires a chromium content of between 16 and 18% and a nickel content of between 10 and 14%.

\n\n\n\n

We recommend 316 stainless steel tubes with 17% chromium and 12% nickel content.

\n\n\n\n
