Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 consiste \u00e0 convertir et stocker de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 sous forme de gaz. Concr\u00e8tement, le <strong>Power-to-Gas utilise l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 renouvelable non consomm\u00e9e pour produire de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne par \u00e9lectrolyse de l\u2019eau<\/strong>. L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne peut ensuite \u00eatre \u00e9ventuellement combin\u00e9 par un processus de m\u00e9thanation \u00e0 du dioxyde de carbone (CO2) pour obtenir du m\u00e9thane de synth\u00e8se, aux propri\u00e9t\u00e9s identiques \u00e0 celles du gaz naturel. L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne ou le m\u00e9thane de synth\u00e8se ainsi produits, peuvent \u00eatre ensuite inject\u00e9s dans le r\u00e9seau de transport de gaz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jupiter 1000<\/strong> est par ailleurs le premier projet qui valorise du CO2 issu de fum\u00e9es industrielles en France, en int\u00e9grant une unit\u00e9 de captage de CO2 sur les chemin\u00e9es d\u2019un industriel local, Asco Industries.
